Most EU member states said to back long Brexit extension - Reports

Despite May offering nothing beyond what was contained in her letter before the summit. Several questions from EU27 went unaddressed, it would appear that member state views vary while the EU27 discussions are ongoing.

According to reports, the mood in the room was more positive about an extension than it was at the last summit, although there were whispers that May did not convince Marcron or at least one other EU leader. Barnier also argued strongly against a long extension.

However, and conflicting, the UK Telegraph argues that the heads are said to be split between two closer dates:

  • June 2019
  • December 2019
