Japan's Motegi to visit US on April 25 to meet USTR Lighthizer

The news is crossing the wires that Japan's Economy Minister Motegi will visit US on April 25 to meet the US Treasury Representative Robert Lighthizer for trade talks.

Motegi reportedly wants a mutually beneficial agreement that works toward a quick deal.

The US trade representative’s statement on the latest talks specifically noted the United States raised its very large trade deficit with Japan—$67.6 billion in goods in 2018, according to foreignpolicy.com. Further, Japan's surplus with the US jumped 99.8 percent in Marh a year ago, according to Japanese trade figures released last Wednesday.
