Japan Finance Minister (FinMin) Shunichi Suzuki joined Trade and Economy Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura to highlight the tax hikes, amid chatters surrounding the plan to fund defense spending, during early Friday.

“(We) must be careful about tax hikes for defence buildup not to curb investment, wage hikes,” said Japan’s Nishimura.

On the same line, Japanese FinMin Suzuki stated that it is difficult to treat bond issuance as stable funding sources for defense spending.
