Coronavirus update UK: 1,940 new coronavirus infections confirmed on Friday

There were 1,940 new confirmed coronavirus infections in the UK as of Friday morning, the UK government data showed. This reading followed Thursday's increase of 1,735.

Further details of the daily report revealed that the total number of fatalities within 28 days of testing positive for COVID-19 rose by 10, as reported by Reuters.

The British pound continues to weaken against its rivals on Friday. As of writing, the GBP/USD pair is down 0.6% on the day at 1.3200. On a weekly basis, GBP/USD is losing more than 150 pips.
