Coronavirus update: New South Wales closes its border to Victoria after Queensland
|With the number of new coronavirus cases spiking in the Australian state of Victoria, New South Wales (NSW), the country’s most populous state, announced that it will ban people living in Melbourne's coronavirus hotspots from entering the state.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian commanded people not to travel to Melbourne at all and encouraged NSW accommodation vendors to bar Melburnians.
Victoria said on Tuesday, it would impose a four-week lockdown in 10 areas in Melbourne city after the new infections rose by 64 a day before, registering the double-digit rise in cases for the 15th straight day.
The state of Queensland announced that it would keep its border shut to Victoria amid the intensifying virus spread.
