Asian stocks mixed as China sees declines on disappointing Trade Balance

  • Asian markets are twisting for Monday as China's markets take a dive on bad trade data.
  • Despite China miss, broader Pacific window remains upbeat, but cautious.

Asian equities went mixed for Monday's action, with the majority of indexes holding steady or seeing mild gains, though China's hugely disappointing Trade Balance figures knocked Chinese bourses firmly lower, as investors try to flee fallout from China's still-declining economy.

Japanese shares are in the green for Monday, with the Nikkei 225 gaining 0.97% with Tokyo's Topix index clearing 0.51% on the day; emerging markets are also remaining on-balance, with the MSCI broad Asia-Pacific index up 0.40%. Australia's equity markets, exposed to Chinese market data, is seeing hesitation for Monday as the ASX 200 remains relatively flat near -0.02%, and China's markets remain the firm bearish points on the day, with Hong Kong's Hang Seng index down -1.46% and Shanghai's CSI 300 retreating -0.75%.
