A quieter week ahead? Main focus on BoJ - ANZ

Analysts at ANZ noted that after what was an eventful week last week, with a number of central bank decisions, the week ahead does look set to be quieter.

"Arguably, the main focus could again be the BoJ, with Governor Kuroda due to speak on Thursday and minutes (but of the July meeting) also due. Given that many elements of the BoJ’s “QQE with yield curve control” framework are unclear, markets will be looking for any further clues.

DISSENT IN THE RANKS: 

Boston Fed President Rosengren, who dissented at the latest FOMC decision, spoke on Friday laying out the case for why he preferred a rate hike stating “I am arguing for modest, gradual tightening now, out of concern that not doing so today will put the recovery’s duration and sustainability at greater risk.” At the same time, Fed Presidents Kaplan and Kashkari (who vote in 2017) made dovish comments. Achieving a consensus around the Fed discussion table looks to be getting harder."
