Coincheck to reimburse investors of the $530 million hack in January

  • The reimbursement will begin in the coming week according to a statement to the public.
  • Coincheck to resume several cryptocurrency services next week.

The Financial Services Agency (FSA) in Japan is making headlines after concluding the first stage of investigations on cryptocurrency exchanges read more here. The regulator has directed Coincheck to commence reimbursing investors.

Investors lost funds in the hacker attack that led to a loss of digital funds amounting to $530 million from the Japanese cryptocurrency exchange. In a statement to the public Coincheck announced on Thursday that it will be starting the reimbursements next week.

In addition to that, the exchange said that it is set to resume the services for a several cryptocurrencies in the coming week. Coincheck had halted withdrawals of cryptocurrencies and the yen following the attack. However, the yen withdrawals were restarted last month.
