Canadian Digital Chamber of Commerce: Canadian blockchain industry extremely lucrative

  • The average annual blockchain salary in Canada is more than $98,000.
  • There is still regulatory uncertainty within the country, which is stunting exponential growth.

The salaries in the Canadian blockchain industry are among the highest in the country, as per the October report by the Canadian Digital Chamber of Commerce. The report sources data from more than 150 participants belonging to the country’s cryptocurrency and blockchain industries. The study was conducted by the Blockchain Research Institute (BRI) with support from Accenture.

According to the results, the average annual blockchain salary in Canada is more than $98,000. This makes it among the highest paying professions in the country. Tanya Woods, the managing director of the Chamber of Digital Commerce Canada, said:

“Canada’s existing innovation ecosystem offers best-in-class talent and pro-growth policies that can be leveraged to establish a leading global blockchain hub here at home. It is clear that Canada’s blockchain ecosystem offers a tremendous opportunity to those interested in a career in this field.”

However, not everything is hunky-dory. As reported by Cointelegraph, while the findings are pretty exciting, the fact is that there still remains regulatory uncertainty within the country. BRI’s chairman Don Tapscott said:

“While the research showed that the blockchain industry is diverse and growing in Canada, it also surfaced challenges regarding access to funding and business services, and uncertain regulatory environments.”
