US Trump postpones tariff decision until June

The White House is announcing that US President Trump has decided to postpone making a final decision on permanent exemptions on steel and aluminum tariffs for US allies until June 1st.

The US provided 'temporary' exemptions on steel and aluminum tariffs for several key allies, and the final decision on granting permanent exemptions was initially slated for May 1st, but Trump has postponed a final decision until June 1st as exemptions for tariffs have been tied up with NAFTA negotations with Canada and Mexico. European leaders have also been pushing back against the tariffs, warning that they will retaliate if provoked.
