US stocks end lower ahead of Fed, Brexit fears weigh

US stocks ended slightly lower on Tuesday, with the DJIA and the S&P 500 posting their fourth declines in a row, weighed by Brexit concerns and ahead of the closely watched Fed decision.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 57.66 points, or 0.33%, to close at 17,674.82. The S&P 500 Index lost 3.74 points, or 0.18%, to end at 2,075.32. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 4.89 points, or 0.10%, to finish at 4,843.55.

DJIA technical view

"The daily chart for the DJIA presents a clear bearish tone, as the index has extended its decline below its 20 DMA, whilst the technical indicators keep heading lower after entering negative territory. The 100 DMA stands at 17,529, a critical support for the upcoming 24 hours," said Valeria Bednarik, chief analyst at FXStreet. "Shorter term, the 4 hours chart shows that the technical indicators have bounced from oversold territory, in line with the latest intraday recovery, but also that the index remains well below its moving averages, with the risk still towards the downside."

Support levels: 17,597 17,529 17,462. Resistance levels: 17,698 17,770 17,854.
