UK PM Johnson: We are working the whole time to defeat the virus

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Friday in a video message that he was feeling better but still had minor symptoms. Johnson further noted that he will maintain his isolation while reiterating that they were working "the whole time" to defeat the virus.

Johnson also urged people not to break the rules and asked them to stay at home over the weekend.

Market reaction

The UK'S FTSE 100 Index recovered modestly in the last hour but was still down 0.6% on the day at the time of press. Meanwhile, the GBP/USD pair continues to stay relatively quiet near the bottom of its daily range around 1.2290, where it's losing 0.85% on a daily basis.
