UK consumers want to spend but dont have the resources - BRC's Dickinson

Helen Dickinson, Chief Executive of the British Retail Consortium (BRC) has warned the consumers want to spend but “just don’t have the resources”.

Dickinson's comments come as the BRC's latest survey showed Retail sales grew 0.6 percent in February on a like-for-like basis. Over the three months to February, like-for-like food sales increased by 2.8 percent while non-food sales fell by 1.1 percent.

"There's little sign that consumer confidence, rather than financial reality, has much to do with the current weakness in spending", Dickinson said according to CityA.M. report.
