NZIER lowers New Zealand’s 2019 GDP forecasts

The latest quarterly survey of economists at the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research (NZIER) showed that the economists made a downward revision to New Zealand’s 2019 growth forecasts.

Key Highlights:

“Annual GDP growth is expected to peak at 2.9 percent for the year to March 2021 before moderating to 2.5 percent in the subsequent year.

New Zealand dollar TWI been revised higher throughout the projection period.

Core inflation point to underlying inflation pressures remaining contained.”

Interest rate forecasts have been revised down.
