Nonfarm payrolls US economy adds 287,000 jobs in June
|Nonfarm payrolls rose by a seasonally adjusted 287,000 in June, the Labor Department said Friday, the strongest level since October.
This reading surpassed expectations of 175,000. However, May's payrolls figure was revised even down to 11,000, the weakest reading since the 2010. April’s gain was raised to 144,000 from 123,000.
The unemployment rate rose to 4.9% in June from 4.7% in May, and above the 4.8% expected.
Average hourly wages rose 0.1% to $25.61 in June and were up 2.6% for the last 12 months, matching the highest level of the recovery.
