Japan’s Suga: No need to reintroduce state of emergency despite rising coronavirus cases in Tokyo

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga denied re-introducing a state of emergency amid the rising number of new coronavirus cases in the capital.

On Thursday, Tokyo confirms 107 new infections, the most since Japan lifted the state of emergency on May 25. It is the first time the capital topped the 100 mark since May 2.

Meanwhile the Nikkei Asian Review reports at least 120 cases of COVID-19 found for the last 24 hours.
