Japan’s Motegi: Too early to announce results of trade talks

We are not yet at the stage where results of trade talks with the US could be announced soon, Japanese Economy Minister Toshimitsu Motegi reportedly said on Friday.

Motegi met with US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer yesterday, while Finance Minister Aso had a meeting with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, and talked about currencies.

Reports are doing the rounds that Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is planning to meet President Donald Trump in Washington later today.

Motegi reached US yesterday for the second round of trade talks aimed at securing a speedy deal focused on agriculture and vehicles.
