Iran's Zarif: Iran does not seek escalation or war

Iran does not see escalation or war with the US but will defend itself against any aggression, Iran's Foreign Minister Javed Zarif tweeted Wednesday.

Iran launched a missile attack on American bases in Iraq in response to the US killing of top Iranian military commander last Friday.

News outlets are reporting zero American casualties and markets are hoping that would lead to a de-escalation of US-Iran tensions.

Zarif said:

Iran took & concluded proportionate measures in self-defense under Article 51 of UN Charter targeting base from which cowardly armed attack against our citizens & senior officials were launched.

We do not seek escalation or war, but will defend ourselves against any aggression.
