ECB's Coeure: Effectiveness of our monpol is now less reliant on our net asset purchases

The ECB recently published the transcript of the German newspaper Handelsblatt's interview with Benoît Cœuré, Member of the Executive Board of the ECB, with key highlights found below.

Completing the banking union is a priority.

The ESM has been a success and there are ways to make it stronger and more agile. 

The European recovery is the strongest for the last decade, and the broadest for the last two decades. But inflation remains weak.

There is very broad agreement in the Governing Council that monetary policy needs to remain accommodative until inflation moves back towards 2% in a sustainable way.

There is a growing sense that the effectiveness of our monetary policy is now less reliant on our net asset purchases.

We will reinvest all bonds coming to maturity for an extended period of time.
