Draghi says ECB has not discussed extending or tapering QE

European Central Bank (ECB) has not discussed extending or tapering the bond buying program, said President Mario Draghi in a press conference on Thursday.

“We didn’t discuss tapering” or the horizon of the bond-buying program, he said.

Draghi said the December meeting will be important. Decisions taken at the next meeting “will tell you what we’re going to do in the coming months.”

The euro soared while stocks moved sharply lower amid no QE extension talk.

At today’s meeting, the ECB decided to leave the key interest rate at a record low of 0.0%, where it has been since March. The ECB also left the deposit rate at -0.40% and the marginal lending facility rate at 0.25%.
