Coronavirus update US: COVID-19 cases in Florida increased by 168% in June

The latest data published by the state health department of Florida showed that the number of confirmed coronavirus infections in the state rose by 4.2%, or 6,093, on Tuesday.

This reading followed Monday's increase of 3.7% and came in below the 7-day average of 5.5%.

On a monthly basis, COVID-19 cases in the state surged by 168% in June with the total reaching 152,434, as reported by Reuters.

Market reaction

Wall Street's main indexes continue to edge higher following these data. As of writing, the S&P 500 was up 0.71% on the day at 3,075 points, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was gaining 0.3% at 25,669 points.
