Coronavirus update US: Cases in Florida increase by 9,488 on Friday

The latest data published by Florida's health department showed that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the state rose by 9,488, or 5.6%, on Friday to a total of 178,594.

This reading followed Thursday's increase of 10,101 and the percentage change came in slightly lower than the seven-day average of 5.8%.

Market reaction

The US Dollar Index, which tracks the greenback's performance against a basket of six major currencies, largely ignored these figures and was last seen flat on the day at 97.21.
