China’s Foreign Ministry: Will take retaliatory measures on US ending special treatment of Hong Kong
|China will take retaliatory measures on the US’ ending the preferential treatment of Hong Kong, said the Foreign Ministry in a statement on Tuesday.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is talking nonsense on the Xinjiang issue, said the ministry spokesman.
This comes after Pompeo announced late Monday that the US is ending controlled defense exports to Hong Kong and taking steps toward imposing the same restrictions on exporting US defense and dual-use technologies to Hong Kong that it has in place for China.
Also, its worth noting that China’s parliament finally passed the national security law for Hong Kong earlier this morning, which is also likely to add to the ongoing rift in the US-China diplomatic ties.
