China to announce reciprocal restrictions on US media branches in the country – Global Times

Global Times editor Hu Xijin said in his latest tweet, “based on what I know, China will announce reciprocal restrictions on US media branches in China. It’s regrettable that deteriorating China-US ties have harmed work of media outlets of both sides. I strongly urge that the US not to escalate suppression of Chinese media further.”

Hu responded to the US announcement made last month that it would start treating four major Chinese media outlets as foreign embassies.

Souring US-China ties

The ongoing tussle between both countries over the Hong Kong, trade and media issues are likely to further deteriorate the diplomatic ties, with investors worrying whether it will jeopardize their phase one trade agreement.

In light of the above, the AUD/USD pair trades 0.20% lower near daily lows of 0.6886, having failed a bullish leg above 0.6900 earlier today.
