Canadian PM Carney declares victory in election
|Canadian Prime Minister (PM) Mark Carney came out on the wires and declared a victory in the federal election on Tuesday.
Carney said that he “looks forward to working constructively with all parties across parliament.”
He further noted that he “will sit down with (US President Donald) Trump to discuss future economic and security ties between two sovereign nations.”
Market reaction
USD/CAD holds higher ground near 1.3870 following his comments, up 0.30% on the day. The pair sustains the rebound as the Canadian Dollar (CAD) remains under intense selling pressure on prospects of the ruling Liberal Party forming a minority government.
