Brexit: UK preparing for EU election following last Friday's vote on Withdrawal deal

A letter that was written by David Lidington, Minister for the Cabinet Office, to the Electoral Commission's Chief Executive Bob Posner suggests that after Parliament rejected Prime Minister Withdrawal deal on Friday, the UK is looking to make the necessary preparations to take part in the EU elections. This development suggests that the UK can ask for a longer extension to Article 50 instead of crashing out of the EU.
