People can now use the Tippin app to send bitcoin payments via the Lightning Network on Twitter. They have released a new Chrome Extension which will enable their users to do so. Anyone can install the Tippin chrome extension to receive Bitcoin tips via their Twitter account. Tippin engineer Sergio Abril said:
“In my opinion, tipping is going to be incredibly popular with lightning network; It’s the first time we can send small amounts almost at no cost, and we can do it incredibly fast.”
Abril continued:
“Tippin started as a personal side project a couple of months ago, so I could understand lightning network a bit more, and of course help push adoption, but it’s starting to get big...Of course, lightning network itself is still in beta, so we have time to make this happen until it’s fully ready.”
Abril plans on expanding the app by including support on other social media platforms.
Erik Voorhees, CEO & Founder of ShapeShift.io, commented on Tippin’s ease of use by tweeting, “Cool extension for easy Lightning twitter tipping ⚡️⚡️⚡️.”
