Microsoft prefers JPMorgan’s Quorum for Azure Cloud

  • Microsoft to promote Quorum to its customers.
  • JPM will also work with Microsoft’s Xbox gaming platform.

Microsoft announced on Thursday that it will promote Quorum, JPMorgan’s private enterprise version of Ethereum, to its customers. The Redmond, Washington-based software firm, will support Quorum through Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform. Accordingly, Quorum “will become the first distributed ledger platform available through [the] Azure Blockchain Service, enabling J.P. Morgan and Microsoft customers to build and scale blockchain networks in the cloud.”

JPM’s global head of blockchain, Umar Farooq, said that Quorum has been successful over the years. He further added, ”Azure will bring unique strengths to enterprise clients using Quorum.”

Quorum will be used to support both JPM and Microsoft’s blockchain programs, the bank’s Interbank Information Network, JPMCoin, and royalty payment points for the Xbox gaming platform. Peggy Johnson, Microsoft executive vice president of business development, believes that the move will be beneficial for Quorum. She said:

“As digital transformation extends beyond the walls of an individual organization, companies need solutions that enable them to securely share their business processes and data.”
