Crypto market overview: Bitcoin (BTC) stays at $7,000 as altcoins lose ground

  • All major coins have been losing during Asian hours on Monday.
  • DASH is the best-performer with 2.9% gains on a daily basis. 


Major altcoins are nursing losses while Bitcoin is hovering around $7,000 handle after a volatile weekend. The total capitalization of all digital assets in circulation reduced to $221 billion, down from $224 billion on Sunday. The average daily trading volumes slipped to $83 billion from the recent peak of $94 according to CoinMarketCap’s rating.  

Top-3 coins price overview:

  • Bitcoin has lost nearly 2% on the day, trading at $7,004 at press time. Meanwhile, the largest cryptocurrency is mostly unchanged since the beginning of Monday and up nearly 23% on a weekly basis.
  • Ethereum retains its position as the second biggest digital asset with the market value of nearly $20.0 billion. ETH staged an impressive rally towards $190.99  during early Asian hours only to retreat to $189.35 by the time of writing. It is trading down nearly 3% on a day-on-day basis.
  • Ripple’s XRP slipped from the intraday high of $0.3236 to $0.3180. However, the third largest coin is still 2/6% higher form the level registered at the beginning of the Asian session and mostly unchanged from this time on Sunday. 

The biggest market-movers:

  • Bitcoin SV is the worst performing altcoin out of top-20 with over 7% of losses on a day-to-day basis. Currently, the coin is changing hands at $57.99.
  • Cardano (ADA) is also a big loser. The 10th largest coin has lost over 5% of its value to trade at $0.0704 by press time.
  • Dash stays in a green zone with nearly 3% of gains in recent 24 hours. It is now the 13th largest coin with the market value of $1.1 billion.
