Breaking news: the head of National Bank of Romania Mugur Isarescu joins crypto nay-sayers

The governor of the National Bank of Romania finds it hard to believe that digital coins will be able to substitute traditional currencies because they do not perform the key functions of money and have security problems. As cited by the local media outlet Business Review, Mugur Isarescu considers the trust issue to be one of the biggest problems for the nascent industry.

“It’s not clear who is the issuer. From this perspective, it’s even a security problem,” Isarescu explained.

The cryptocurrency market reaction has been muted so far: BTC/USD is mostly unchanged since the start of the day, trading at $6,580, ETH/USD is changing hands at $508, down 2.2%.
