Job market worries evident as confidence tests a four-year low

Summary

Consumer confidence continued its trend descent in November, coming in at 88.7. That's a far cry from the 112.8 reading in November 2024. While we doubt the government shutdown is solely to blame, the Congressional impasse was hardly reassuring. We see the usual culprits: labor market weakness and ongoing concern about prices as key factors weighing on consumers.
