background: Japan opposition on new BOJ Governor appointment

By: Eamonn Sheridan

An interesting brief article from the Japanese weekend press about the DPJ (remember them?) wanting to approve a replacement for the BOJ Governor as soon as is practical. I found this interesting: Speaking to reporters in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, central Japan, Hosono said the DPJ will work to prevent the BOJ post from being left vacant given the importance of roles that the central bank plays for the economy. Its interesting to think the the Governor position might be left vacant if Abe can't get a candidate he wants to be approved ... Japan's DPJ Signals Flexibility about Central Bank Appointment
