Bachelor of Pure Economics, Trinity College Dublin 1986
Awarded Master of Arts 1991.
Started trading career with WestLB Düsseldorf in 1986 training in both spot and forward foreign exchange and finished as a spot trader with Deutsche Bank Sydney in 1999.
Set up own emerging hedge fund in 2000 and this experience eventually led to the establishment of FXWW, to help aspiring traders on the pathway to becoming a hedge fund. Have continued to trade on a personal account for the last 10 years, with medium-term contrarian the best description of my trading style. I rely heavily on market flows and technical analysis for my entry and exit levels.
Have also spent some time providing education courses and test questions for those undertaking AFSL courses.
Started as a market commentator and analyst with Thomson IFR in 2005 and have expanded on this path through Reuters FXHub and ForexLive over the last 5 years. My extensive network of contacts in both the interbank and hedge fund markets give me an excellent insight into what the bigger players are thinking and doing. I look at the market from a trader’s perspective, not that of a reporter or analyst.
