Gareth Burgess
Name: Gareth Burgess
Position: Chartist
Company: Chart-Workshop
My first experience with charting began back in 1988, I attempted to create charts using an Amstrad PC and a software programme then known as Supercalc 3. It was not very successful as I was only able to obtain end-of-day data per telephone and only on stocks and shares. I didn't follow it any further because I went off to study. The advent of the internet, however, changed things completely and I found that by 1999 I was able to access the financial markets more effectively. In 2002 I quit my customer support and sales role at a German company, to follow my interest in chart technical analysis and technical trading.
Over the years I have attended courses and numerous seminars covering the theme of technical analysis, and read many books on the subject. I still research and test different strategies, both short term and longer term. Between 2005 and 2007 I invested a lot of time researching chart techniques that are used in the industry. Some of these chart techniques are compiled in the book, Trading and Investing in the Forex Markets using Chart Techniques. These techniques if used consistently can show where opportunities are developing in the financial markets.
I grew up in Surrey, in the UK, and went on various journeys before studying at the University of Liverpool, and later at the University of Konstanz, Germany. I hold a B.A (hons)., and a M.Phil, research degree.
