Trading for a living: JPY And USD Rise On Falling US Confidence by David Aranzabal

Declining US consumer confidence boosted the yen and dollar on Friday. The Japanese currency rallied against all major currencies for the week as increased risk aversion spurred investors to unwind carry trades. The dollar rose versus all the major higher yielding and risk sensitive currencies.

EUR/USD breaks 1.3960 on Trichet comments

FXstreet.com − EUR/USD is approaching to 1.4000 level on Trichet's comments after breaking 1.3960 resistance and jumping 50 pips in the last minutes to post 1.3995 as fresh intra−day high. Currently the pair is trading around 1.3985/95, posting 0.30% daily gains from opening price.

Jean Claude Trichet, ECB's president, has affirmed that Eurozone will resume growth in the second quarter of 2010 in his today's speech. Triched also said that Eurozone GDP's decline will slow in the second half of 2009.

We expect headline inflation to ease further to 1.8% for June. The disinflation process is widespread. Core inflation should have eased to 1.5% from the previous 1.6%; and another downward contribution should come from non−core components, as fuel and food prices, though rising month−over−month, will benefit from a favorable base effect.
