EURUSD dips keep turning into bounces so far
For whatever reason, the pound is seeing the majority of volatility among the major currencies over this holiday period, with EURGBP having swung wildly from all the way above 0.9800 to as low as 0.9440 in the Asian session before rallying sharply again in the European session to 0.9600 as of this writing.

US economic indicators - ISM manufacturing index (Dec): again indicating recession in the overall economy by BHF−Bank
The ISM manufacturing index fell further to 36.2, thus signalling recession in the overall economy for the second consecutive month. The first regional manufacturing surveys stabilised at very low levels, and we therefore expect the ISM manufacturing index to have remained more or less unchanged in December.

DATA SNAP: UK House Prices Continued To Tumble In Dec (Dow Jones)
U.K. house prices fell further in December, lender HBOS PLC (HBOS.LN) said Friday. The Halifax house price index declined 2.2% from November and was 16.2% lower than a year earlier, HBOS said. That compares with a 2.6% month−on−month drop in November and a fall of 14.9% on the year.

Euro−Zone Dec Mfg PMI Hits Record Low Of 33.9 −Sources (Dow Jones)
Manufacturing activity in the euro zone contracted for the seventh consecutive month in December, hitting a fresh record low. The purchasing managers' index for the euro zone's manufacturing sector fell to 33.9 in December from 35.6 in November, data from market sources showed Friday.
