The week will begin with the release of retail sales, which in March are expected to have been flat following last month's 0.6 pct decline. Excluding automobiles, retail sales are expected to have increased 0.2 pct following a 0.2 pct decline in the previous month.

Industrial output in the 15 countries that share the single currency remained resilient in February, as yet unscathed by slowing global growth and the strength of the euro. Industrial production across the euro zone rose 0.3% on the month in February and 3.1% on the year.

UK March producer prices surge; annual input prices hit record high (Thomson Financial News)
UK producer prices continued to surge in March, led by rising oil prices and duty hikes from this year's Budget. Both output and input prices were sharply higher during the month, pointing to continued inflationary pressures over the coming months.
