Daily Analysis − Greenback on the down again by Finotec Group Inc.

The Sterling rose against the euro today for a third successive day versus a decline against the Dollar. The British currency gained 78.78 pence per euro toady 7:54 GMT from 78.92 yesterday, dollar currently trading in at $1.9834 from $1.9874 yesterday. The decline in the Pound/Dollar came amidst news yesterday that figures show mortgage approvals are plummeting, debt is spiraling and banks are withdrawing mortgages on offer.

US economic indicators - Both ISM indices will probably show ongoing contraction in March by BHF−Bank

After having fallen sharply to 44.3 in January, the ISM non−manufacturing index recovered to 49.3 in February, still indicating contraction in the US economy. Given the weakening of the retail sector and the fact that the housing market correction has intensified, we expect the ISM non−manufacturing index to have declined to about 47.5 in March, not much higher than its manufacturing counterpart.

Euro zone Feb retail sales down 0.5 pct vs Jan, down 0.2 yr−on−yr (Thomson Financial News)

Euro zone retail sales fell 0.5 percent in February from January and were down 0.2 percent year−on−year, EU statistics office Eurostat said. Economists polled by Thomson Financial News had forecast a month−on−month rise of 0.3 percent and no change from a year earlier.

UK CIPS March services PMI 52.1, lowest since Nov 2007 − sources (Thomson Financial News)

The UK's services sector saw output growth slow dramatically in March, sources said of a closely−watched survey. They said the purchasing managers index from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing Supply fell to 52.1 in March, its lowest since November 2007, from February's 54.0.
