Euro printed a new high yesterday at 1.4130 but after that it moved lower for the rest of the trading day; so far in today's trading hours it has recuperated some of the points lost and we are basically at the same levels we were at the end of last week.

Ahead of the Bell: Consumer Confidence (Thomson Financial News)
Consumer confidence held steady in August, experts predict, suggesting fears about volatile financial markets and housing problems may be easing. At 10:00 a.m. EDT Tuesday, the Conference Board is scheduled to issue its monthly survey of consumer sentiment. The consensus estimate of Wall Street economists surveyed by Thomson/IFR is 104.5, slightly lower than August's 105.0 reading. Economists' latest estimates ranged from 100 to 106.

Business confidence has deteriorated in Germany as a consequence of the recent financial markets' crisis plus a stronger euro and higher oil prices, this is the main conclusion of the latest survey on business confidence by the Ifo institute of economical research.
