Global FX Daily - U.S. Edition - JPY outlook remains poor by Mellon Foreign Exchange
While there has been much focus on the sub-prime issue as being the cause of the USD's latest problems, the damage was done a couple of weeks back when EUR-USD broke above 1.3485, thereby ending the consolidation pattern that had been in place since the end of April. The S&P sub-prime announcement on Tuesday was merely the catalyst for EURUSD to take out the April high of 1.3683.

US economic indicators - Retail sales could have remained unchanged in June, after rising sharply in May by BHF-Bank
Retail sales, which had rebounded in April, could have risen much more moderately. All in all, business inventories seem to have contributed noticeably to growth in the 2nd quarter, after their decline in the first three months.

DATA SNAP: French June CPI +0.1% On Month, +1.2% On Year (Dow Jones)
French consumer price inflation slowed as expected in June, data released by national statistics agency Insee showed Friday. The French consumer price index for June rose 0.1% on the month and 1.2% on the year, compared with increases of 0.3% and 1.1%, respectively, in May, Insee said.
