Forex Technical Report - The Cable lost position against the US Dollar by iFOREX.bg

In reaction to the strong support at the top 1.9938, the Cable lost position against the US Dollar, falling down to 1.9760. This downward movement found support around 1.9777, which is 38.1% correction of the upward movement from 1.9183 from March 2007. Currently GBP consolidates within the frame 1.9844 - 1.9777.

Higher gasoline prices continued affecting headline CPI in April. We expect it to rise by 0.5% from 0.6% in March; however, the twelvemonth change would moderate to 2.7% from 2.8% in March.

EMU: Temporary and modest slowing by Danske Bank A/S

Euroland GDP growth slowed a little in Q1, posting 0.6%q/q, following 0.9%q/q in Q4. However, in reality the numbers, were a positive surprise. Firstly, consensus had expected growth of only 0.5%q/q. Secondly, the German economy seems to have absorbed the VAT hike without major problems, and thirdly, the start of Q2 has been surprisingly good, with GDP growth likely to accelerate to 0.8%q/q.

European Market Update - UK CPI Y/Y Falls Back Below the Key 3.0% Mark by Trade The News

April consumer prices were in line with expectations as were retail prices, the exception here being core CPI, which was 1.8%, just below estimates of 1.9%. The key figure here, CPI y/y fell below the 3.0% level.
