The Week Ahead

Central Banks again on agenda by FXstreet.com

The week is dominated by both ECB and BoE interest rate decisions coming out on Thursday. But that will not be the only contribution the central bankers will do to a -in other aspects- relatively quiet week. Ben bernanke, Fed chairman, will be speaking in the US on tuesday, so that's also an appointment for economists and investors.

Retail Sales data in UK and Europe on Tuesday are on top of the list for Europe. The UK is very active this week with plenty of data coming out before the BoE releases its interest rate decision. Tuesday sees consumer confidence data and Wednesday industrial production tops the day. In the old Europe, only PMi data on Monday should be on a remark.

A very quiet wek in the US, with wholesale inventories topping an almost non-event week on Thursday.

Finally, a reminder for all investors: Friday Feb 9th the G7 starts a three-day meeting, and that could turn the markets very volatile.
