The Week Ahead

FX Weekly Outlook - Trade gaps and all that by Informa Global Markets

The week ahead see US data go onto somewhat of a backburner, although what there is should if anything be mildly Dollar positive favour and continued scaling back of short positions.
Like the US, Canada also has November trade data Wednesday, although, unlike the US, it should remain in the black, albeit with a shrinking surplus with October recording the lowest positive print in three years.
The UK external trade picture has been deteriorating over the past six months, although the November read may show some stabilisation at the present higher levels.
There is scant data for the Eurozone: German November manufacturing orders and industrial production Monday/Tuesday and French November industrial production and manufacturing output Tuesday.
A short week ahead with Japanese markets closed for the Coming of Age holiday Monday, and only relatively second tier data is released during the remainder of the week.
