Euro back inside the range established early May

Mizuho Corporate Bank − Friday's drop has put the Euro back inside the range established early May, much to the delight of US dollar bulls. Bullish momentum has collapsed as has the overbought situation. This suggests we shall hold below last week's high at 1.4448 this week and maybe all month while we try and establish a new interim base.

Friday Notes - Back on track to growth by UniCredit Group

The index of worked aggregate hours dropped another 8% in 2Q, while real GDP fell a much more benign 1%. Accordingly, productivity (output per hour) has surged. The increase in compensation per hour was most likely more benign than in previous quarters – and certainly lower than the rise in output per hour. As a result, unit labor costs fell in 2Q after three consecutive increases. Both developments, the rise in productivity and the decline in unit labor costs, reflect the successful attempts of companies to cut costs and to streamline their businesses amid the severe economic recession.

Japan Jun Core Machinery Orders +9.7% On Month (Dow Jones)

Japanese core machinery orders rose 9.7% in June from the previous month, the government said Monday, raising hopes that firms may have finished paring down their business investment plans. The rise was much bigger than the 2.9% increase expected on average by economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires and The Nikkei.
