EUR/USD

Daily Market Commentary − The dollar edged up on Tuesday on consolidation by GFT (Global Forex Trading)

Euro/dollar closed lower on Tuesday, but my model remains long. It should now attempt to recover those losses. Initial resistance is at 1.4270. This is followed by 1.4330. Above 1.4482, the high on Monday, resistance is still seen at 1.4545. Above 1.4625, resistance is at 1.4810. Immediate support remains at 1.4145. Below 1.4088, the low on Monday, support is now seen at 1.4004. A pivot low is at 1.3883.

PREVIEW−UK jobless expected to jump again in August (Thomson Financial News)

More than twenty thousand people joined the queue for jobless benefits in Britain last month, analysts say, and official data could also show a fall in overall employment as the economic downturn gathers pace. Analysts expect official data to show the claimant count rose 22,300 in August −− the third month in a row the count will have increased by at least 20,000 and the biggest jump since the economic slump of the early 1990s.

BOJ keeps rates on hold,says economy still sluggish (Thomson Financial News)

The Bank of Japan kept interest rates unchanged on Wednesday and maintained its assessment on the economy, which it said was still sluggish. In a widely expected move, the central maintained its overnight call rate target at 0.5 percent by a unanimous vote. "Tensions in global financial markets have increased and there are downside risks to the world economy," the BOJ said.
