EUR/USD

Market Session Recaps − The Dollar traded mixed today for the start of the week in Asia by FOREX.com

EUR/USD opened the new week a bit higher and as the session progressed the pair made moderate moves to a high just above 1.5590. A quick pullback brought the pair to its current levels, (as of this writing) of right at 1.5580. 1.5553 was the low for the session. In the EUR/JPY, the Yen suffered from retail investor selling as the theme was risk reduction ahead of this weeks' decisions by the Fed, ECB, RBA, and BoE.

Friday Notes - Personal Income & Outlays by HVB Group

Tax rebates dramatically boosted income in May, and only the tail end of the rebate checks went out in June. Otherwise, wages and salaries were up moderately, leaving total personal income roughly unchanged. Spending continued to benefit from the fiscal injection, although less than half was spent. Consumers cut purchases of autos but managed to do a lot of shopping at malls.

Swiss PMI edges down in July (FXstreet.com)

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) − Swiss Purchasing Managers' Index has declined in July to a level below the long –term average of 54.5 points, nevertheless, the final reading has been better than expected, according to figures released by the Swiss Association for Materials Management and Purchasing (SVME) and Credit Suisse.

Australia 2Q House Prices Fall 0.3% Vs 1Q (Dow Jones)

The weighted average price of established houses in Australian capital cities fell 0.3% in the second quarter from the first, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said Monday. Analysts surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires had forecast a drop of 1.0% in the index in the second quarter. The bureau's house price index also showed the weighted average price of established houses in Australia's eight capital cities was up 8.2% from the second quarter of 2007.
