Bank of Japan leaves overnight call rate target unchanged at 0.5 pct as expected (Thomson Financial News)
The Bank of Japan (BoJ) left its overnight call rate target unchanged at 0.5 percent for the 20th straight meeting on Tuesday. The widely expected decision gives the Japanese central bank more time to assess the credit crisis in the United States following financial problems at government sponsored enterprises (GSEs) Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.

DATA SNAP:UK RICS House Price Balance Up, But Sales Slumping (Dow Jones)
Sentiment in the housing market in England and Wales improved for the second consecutive month in June, but sales fell to their lowest level on record due to the lack of available credit, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors said Tuesday. The latest RICS housing market survey showed the seasonally−adjusted net balance of surveyors reporting falling rather than rising prices was −88.0 percentage points in June, compared with −92.2 percentage points in May.
