Current Session: Europe

EUR/USD

Market Session Recaps − Asia Session by FOREX.com

The EUR/USD dropped from around 1.5970 to near 1.5908 on the news, and as the session wore on, the Dollar continued to claw back. The pair later slipped through the 1.5900 level, touching 1.5982 on a low. As the session was ending, the pair was testing those lows again, with some support levels near 1.5870. As usual, the 1.6000 level is critical as a psychological barrier, and the record high of 1.6018 looks to possibly be at risk this week with US earnings reports, data and Eurozone inflation data due this week.

Friday Notes - Widening EMU output gap to keep core inflation in check by HVB Group

We expect a sizeable drop in May industrial output. Part of the weakness will be technical – driven by an adverse calendar effect – but it's clear that some of the deterioration reflects a genuine loss of momentum, as suggested by the sharp decline in manufacturing surveys.
