The fall from 1.6190 has weakened short term momentum and suggested that the entire rise towards the downward trendline seen now into the 1.6170 zone could have been corrective in nature and we are going to see an extended decline towards recent lows into the 1.6025 zone. Japan all−industries index rises 0.8 percent in April (Thomson Financial News)

Japan's all−industries index rose 0.8 percent in April from March, as gains in the services sector offset weak industrial output, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said on Thursday. The index, which covers a broad range of economic activity including spending in the services sector, rose 0.3 percent in March from February. The all−industries index rose 0.2 percent in April from a year earlier following a 1.0 percent fall in March.

BOE's King: 2Q UK Economic Growth To Be Particularly Weak (Dow Jones)

Bank of England Governor Mervyn King on Wednesday warned that the months ahead won't be easy, with growth likely to be particularly soft this quarter, and house prices and consumer spending set to weaken in tandem. In a speech to bankers at the annual Mansion House dinner, King also welcomed reforms announced by U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling earlier in the evening that will give the central bank greater responsibilities in the maintenance of financial stability.
