Daily Forex Commentary USD Fell Once Again by Jyske Bank

The President of the ECB, Jean Claude Trichet, spoke to the European Parliament yesterday. Lately, members of governing council in the ECB have been quite hawkish indication that the market should not anticipate rate cuts in the near−term. At his speech yesterday, he did not change the rhetoric and said among other things that "wage deals may be higher than expected", that "strong CPI pressure mainly due to food and energy", and that the "crucial policy stance based on price stability alone" indicating that rate cuts are now around the corner.

US economic indicators - Consumer confidence indicators are likely to deteriorate further in March by BHF−Bank

We forecast that the final estimate for Q4 GDP will confirm the growth rate at 0.6% qoq. For the whole of 2007, the increase in real GDP slowed from 2.9% to 2.2% yoy, and given the current elevated recession risk, the average growth rate is likely to fall to below 1% this year.
